Your Hands Are Often Smarter.

For centuries Yogis, Taoists and Buddhist monks have devoted their lives learning to stop and/or slow the flow of thoughts in order to rest the mind for calm and objectivity. Regarding the nature, definition, and practice of zen, though, a wise man once pointed out that there is really no such thing as "peace of mind." The mind is responsible for reasoning, critical thinking, conceptualization and self awareness. But, a mind is also responsible for all sorts of chaos, over-thinking, delusions and lies. There is even a book out there called Peace of Mind by a rabbi, Joshua Liebman. Millions of copies have been sold -- likely for the title itself -- to those seeking the peace of mind. And reasonably so -- a book with the title Peace of No Mind would likely not sell many copies. Over-thinking, however, is a sleeper plague -- we're often in our own way. Another rascal sage once said, "The hands are often smarter than the head will ever be."
